About The Artist
My relationship with photography began when I was fifteen, when I started studying fine art photography at The Light Factory. What began as an early fascination with the medium grew into a lifelong pursuit of the ways light, composition and perspective can transform an ordinary moment into something worth remembering.
I went on to study art, with a concentration in photography, and art history as an undergraduate, followed by advanced study in commercial photography at The Portfolio Center. My professional career has included regional and national advertising campaigns, magazine covers and editorial spreads, as well as exhibitions of my fine-art photography.
Today, my fine art work is deeply influenced by my love of travel. I am drawn to the places I encounter along the way—the unexpected details, changing light, quiet moments and distinctive sense of place that can be easy to overlook when simply passing through.
I am particularly interested in the relationship between light and composition, and in the ability of the camera to isolate and reveal the raw shapes, lines, textures and forms that exist within a found scene. Often, what catches my eye is not the obvious subject, but the way light falls across a surface, the geometry created by architecture, or an unexpected arrangement of shapes that might otherwise go unnoticed.
I also believe that the photograph continues to take shape after the shutter is released. Editing is an essential part of my process—a way of refining the composition, emphasizing light and form, and distilling an image until it expresses what first caught my attention. My goal is not simply to document a place, but to interpret what I saw and felt in that moment.
At its most basic, I believe photography is the combination of technical skill and an eye trained to see light: knowing how to compose a scene, capture it with intention, and then shape the final image to share that experience with someone else.
That idea has remained at the heart of my work since I first picked up a camera at fifteen.
My hope is that these photographs allow you to experience a place, a moment or a feeling—and perhaps see it a little differently than you would have before.
